“I like the detective work that our specialty presents. A lot of the time, because the nerves are so complicated, people don’t know where their pain is coming from. Once I figure out what it is, they’re going to feel a lot better.”

Inspiration

The child of Yugoslav immigrants, Dr. Babcic has been driven to succeed ever since she arrived with her parents in Minne­tonka, Minnesota. Her ambition has paid off: she is the first doctor in her family, and the only woman in her practice.

Advice to Aspiring Dentists

“This job is high-stress, because you’re dealing with people in pain, and it’s very detail-oriented. You have to be really motivated every day.”
