DMD, University of Nevada, Las Vegas School of Dental Medicine
Why He Was Nominated:
Dr. Wong and his wife, Dr. Julia Servetnik (see page 68), opened their Houston-area pediatric practice together a year ago. Dr. Wong graduated in the top two of his dental school class and received the Richard C. Pugh Achievement Award for his board score, which was in the top 3 percent of all graduating dental residents nationwide.
Tool He Can’t Live Without:
“DryShield. I do 95 percent of treatment with it, and I can’t imagine doing any operative procedure without it.”
Most Memorable Patient:
“I met a 9-year-old who had baking flour packed into his decaying tooth. He had a mouthful of rampant caries and was suffering excruciating pain due to an abscess from an untreated infection. I was stunned to hear the mother explain that she thought the flour was tooth-colored and might help the tooth heal. I was confronted with the reality that not all patients possess the knowledge of oral hygiene information that I previously took for granted.”
