Why He Was Nominated

Dr. Barnett’s passion for providing dentistry in his home state of Alabama as well as abroad is deeply rooted in his faith. A senior pastor at Bethel Cumberland Presbyterian Church, Dr. Barnett provides pro bono care through local charities and on annual trips to Haiti — where he also helps fund a school that provides roughly 300 students with healthy meals every day.

Inspiration

His passion for dentistry began when he was just 8 years old: “I remember going to work with my grandmother at the health department and the dentist showing me how to count teeth.”
