“I pride myself on doing a little more of the medical side of dentistry,” Dr. Kivett says. He screens each patient he sees for cancer, sleep apnea and TMJ and muscle disorders.

Inspiration

By screening his patients, Dr. Kivett aims to target whole-body ailments and disorders from the perspective of treating the mouth. This is one reason he has embraced comprehensive sleep-apnea treatments. “I have a chance to look right into someone’s mouth” and get a 360-degree perspective on their entire body’s health, he says.
