Why He Was Nominated

Dr. Matthews met his wife, Rachel (see below), in dental school, and after discovering Rock Hill needed a periodontist and an endodontist, they opened a practice that saves patients time (and pain) by performing procedures in the same place.

Inspiration

Dr. Matthews enjoys prevention and routine procedures, but aesthetic surgery gives him the greatest joy. “I like restoring patients’ smiles, especially when they were told that they couldn’t get implants.”

3D imaging, for everything from placing implants to diagnosing endodontic lesions. “The radiation is so low, and the resolution is so high,” he says. “You can get amazing clarity.”
