DDS, Loma Linda University; MS, certificate in orthodontics and dentofacial orthopedics, Oregon Health and Science University
Why She Was Nominated:
Dr. Peterson provides orthodontic care in her hometown of Rancho Cucamonga, to which she recently returned, making use of digital scanners and 3D X-rays. A clinical advisory consultant and lecturer for 3M Unitek braces and aligners, she’s also former chairman of both the New and Younger Members Committee of the Pacific Coast Society of Orthodontics.
Exciting New Trend:
“Digital scanning and 3D-printed appliances. Three of the most uncomfortable parts about orthodontics are goopy impressions, thick separators between molars and plastic retractors stretching the patient’s cheeks for photos. I have been able to reduce or eliminate these using this technology.”
“Join a study club and ask to shadow in offices. I have learned so many great tips and tricks from spending time in my colleagues’ offices.”
