His dad. “My father set the bar very high, and we strive to reach it every day,” he says. “We discuss cases all the time. It makes for a fun Thanksgiving dinner.”
Making a fearful patient comfortable, and being empathetic. “Dentistry has a tough reputation,” Dr. Monokian says. “People’s expectations are low, and we try to succeed at every level. Making them happy is the best part of my day.”
Never stop learning. “Dentistry is not only my profession, it’s my hobby. I take it with me wherever I go. I’m always listening to dental-education CDs in the car and on my iPod. There’s always something you don’t know.”
