Why She Was Nominated:

Having emigrated from the Philippines, Dr. Baloy completed her AEGD residency in 2018 and launched her career in public health. Believing that quality dental health should not be limited to those with means, she found herself at home in her first position with a Federally Qualified Health Center, where after just a year she was promoted to dental director and charged with expanding the practice to three locations. Within three months, she extended the initial dental clinic patient pool by 300 percent.

Exciting New Trend:

“Dental medicine is constantly evolving, from 3D Printing to L-PRFs. What gets me most excited is that the goal has now shifted from subtractive to additive dentistry. Practitioners are now shifting to preservation instead of always cutting bone, enamel and dentin.”

Favorite Aspect of Dentistry:

“I’m in love with occlusion, because it’s not just the tooth, it’s the entire system. All the inclines, the muscle tonus, the temporomandibular joint. How tooth anatomy affects the TMJ. I’m married to a physical therapist; having another outlook on the stomatognathic system and being able to collaborate with other health-care providers in disorders of the TMJ excites me.”
