When Pantone introduced Very Peri 17-3938 as the Pantone Color of the Year 2022, they described the new “dynamic periwinkle blue hue”:  Its “novel presence encourages personal inventiveness and creativity.”

Interior Designer Taylor Haight offers tips from Benco Design to help dentists incorporate the Pantone Color of the Year: Very Peri into their style at the practice.

Not sure where if, and where, periwinkle fits into your dental practice design? Interior Designer Taylor Haight offers tips from Benco Design.

Serenity, calmness and sentimental memories all link to periwinkle in therms of color theory, said Interior Designer Taylor Haight, who offers examples of how the color aligns with current style trends, and creates the calming vibe on every dental practice wish list.

“Pantone made periwinkle the color of the year to bring more color and vibrancy into 2022. While there are many ways to style this wonderful periwinkle color, Cottagecore has been trending for some time now. Going to the dentist can be stressful, so what would be more comforting than Grandma’s house and nature, right?” —Interior Designer Taylor Haight shares thoughts from Benco Design on incorporating Pantone Color of the Year into dental style

The Texas-based interior designer references a concept that Architectural Digest describes as “hearkening back to agricultural life, skills and crafts.”

Haight continued:

“Combining these two elements and touching on the Cottagecore trend breathes a new calming life into the dental office, and really creates a homey environment where clients will feel secure in the dental chair.”

This color mood board, designed by Christine Rud, interior designer, Benco Design, incorporates Pantone Color of the Year, Very Peri. which marks a departure from neutrals and grays.

Adding accents with periwinkle can refresh the dental space

An accent chair, artwork, or a floral arrangement in the reception area, or a pendant light fixture illustrate areas to incorporate a unexpected element of color, Very Peri in this case, said Haight.

Feeling a little more daring? A periwinkle accent wall can offer a fresh feel with minimal expense.

Want to commit even further? Add a wall covering or reupholster.

Haight discusses options reflected in a color mood board, shown below, created by Benco Interior Designer Christine Rud.

“Periwinkle reminds me of walking in lavender fields on a gorgeous spring day with clear skies and a gentle breeze; carefree summer picnic lunches and the sound of laughter; the smell of freshly baked bread and baskets of berries,” said Haight.

She offers examples on how to pull from what is seen nature, such as a complement of rich green, like the emerald shown here in the color mood board.
