Mentoring from an oral-implantology legend fueled Dr. Kurt Kline’s 30-year progression into a true “maverick of the healing arts.”
“Not long after graduate school, at an [American Academy of Implant Dentistry] meeting, I attended a symposium. I wanted to learn from one panelist in particular—world-class implant dentist Carl Misch—and I told him so. Weeks later I began my lifelong journey being mentored by him.”
Today, Dr. Kurt W. Kline, 60, who lives and practices in Plattsburgh, New York, shares the strategies that helped him create Implant Dental.
“I built the new space in response to a patient survey. After many years of house-practice locations, they deserved a state-of-the-art medical facility. I also needed space for a training facility to give attending general dentists a sense of pride and seriousness.”
A fellow of the Misch International Implant Institute and a fellow and diplomate of the International Congress of Oral Implantologists, Dr. Kline selected Herman Miller furniture for his training facility.
“The ‘human-centered’ ergonomic design and adjustability for both the Seminar doctors and my staff have been greatly appreciated.”
What do his staff and patients think?
“Although Lumbar support and comfort rank at the top of the list, the amazement of full adjustability is often a topic of discussion,” said Dr. Kline.
4 reasons Dr. Kurt Kline believes Herman Miller is second to none
- AMERICAN MADE QUALITY. “First and foremost, I’m a firm believer in doing business in the USA. Herman Miller, Inc., an American company, is based in Zeeland, Michigan,” said Dr. Kurt Kline on selecting Herman Miller furniture to complement his Implant Dental brand.
2. EXTENSIVE ERGONOMIC RESEARCH. “Secondly, as an evidence-based doctor, Herman Miller Research Corporation commissioned designers Don Chadwick, who had an architectural background, in cooperation with Bill Stumpf, whom while working at the University of Wisconsin-Madison with specialists in orthopedic and vascular medicine, conducted extensive research into ergonomics which resulted in the Aeron chair (1994).
3. FANTASTIC FABRIC. “Thirdly, air circulation created by the shear, but resistant “pellicle” fabric is a critical component for successful long-duration sittings.”
4. CROWD-PLEASING CONTOUR. “And finally, in the research and design phase of my Continuing Education program, it was imperative to find a chair that would accommodate all body types with the best ergonomics possible, comfort and stability.”
DESIGN TIP YOU WON’T WANT TO MISS FOR YOUR DENTAL OFFICE
According to Dr. Kline:
“If doctors are looking for a quality well researched ergonomic chair, the Aeron which is ‘made out of recycled materials, and 94 percent of the chair is recyclable’ should be on there ‘2019 to buy’ list.”
